That is on purpose. These are being written, edited, and illustrated right now, and we would rather you watch the work happen than meet it fully formed on the day it ships. Chapters are still moving — which is why every extent on this page reads “in draft”: it is where the manuscript stands today, not a promise.

What your copy will do

When a title is ready it will not be merchandise. It will be a book that keeps funding the thing it documents. Sixty percent of what you put in goes straight into the programs — the workshop in the school, the bed in the community garden, the mural on the wall, the next piece of research. No profit is distributed, the policy says so in writing, and you can hold us to it.

You may not need to buy one at all

Two of these books examine specific ground, because that is where the evidence was gathered. The instruments they trace are not specific to it. Redlining, clearance, lien sales, and rezoning were federal programs and standard practice, and the East New York framework was built from the start to be duplicable. If your ground looks different, the questions still travel.
