Our mission

Liberation, sustainability, cultural restoration

Deconstructing Design envisions a future where the built environment is a tool for liberation, sustainability, and cultural restoration. Through the arts, architecture, education, and emerging technologies, we empower communities to reclaim narratives, reimagine spaces, and cultivate regenerative ecosystems.

By integrating localized food systems, equitable design, and ecological stewardship, we co-create spaces of healing, resilience, and self-determination. Our work is rooted in justice, collaboration, and innovation, forging pathways toward thriving and inclusive futures.

Values in practice

Five commitments

Justice first

We start from the histories of displacement and environmental harm, and design against them.

Community control

Decisions rest with the people who live the outcomes — not with us, and not with funders.

Regeneration

Food systems, materials, and ecosystems that give back more than they take.

Cultural memory

Design as an archive: what we build should remember who was here.

Reinvestment

Every dollar recirculates into the mission. No profit is distributed.

Open methodology

Reckoning in Pixels™ is documented and shared, not hidden.

Companion project

Shifting Landscapes

Our sibling initiative documenting change across contested ground.
